Title: IT Specialist

Starting Wage: $23.00 hourly / $47,840 Annual

Purpose: *Deliver services and complete tasks that require advanced skills typically with skills in more than one program or service type and advanced specializations and experience. Requires complex decision making and prioritization skills, advanced level of efficiency and self-initiation, advanced communication and interpersonal skills. Responsible for developing and/or implementing new strategies that will increase the likelihood of successful outcomes related to their own work and the work of others. Responsible for orientation and support regarding the work of others or as lead on projects or services. Requires the ability to develop and maintain partnerships.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: *

• Serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance with devices, systems, hardware, software and equipment.
• Serves as primary contact and coordinator for contracted IT Management providers.
• Identify, diagnose and troubleshoot devices and systems, hardware, software and equipment.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components.
• Keep documentation of devices, equipment and IT related information and accounts, ensuring records are up-to-date and accurate.
• Ensure software licensing is documented and within compliance.
• Onboard new staff by creating accounts, supplying technology needs, and training users in the proper use of hardware or software.
• Manage vendor relations for phones, printers, computers, and other equipment.
• Work with vendors, when appropriate, to troubleshoot devices, systems, hardware, software and equipment.
• Maintain a solid working knowledge of network components for troubleshooting network related problems.
• Ensure computers and devices are secure and protected.
• Maintain and apply IT policies related to keeping staff accounts devices safe.
• Provide excellent communication, especially when explaining technical details to non-technical staff.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

Knowledge of:

• Strong knowledge of current computer hardware technology, business software, and MS Operating Systems, in a business environment (knowledge of Mac operating systems is a plus but not required).
• Understanding of IT and network concepts.
• Microsoft Active Directory including user accounts and Group Policies support and administration.
• Microsoft systems such as Office365, SharePoint, Print Servers, File servers and Domain controllers.
• PBX and VOIP phone systems.

Candidates should have the ability to:

• Be a customer service-oriented problem solver who can work with employees and customers of all computer skill levels.
• Calmly and quickly solve IT problems in stressful, high impact situations.
• Work independently.
• Good organization, time management, and prioritization.
• Work events on occasion.
• Work on-site at locations in Bellingham and Mount Vernon during regularly scheduled days, 2-3 days per week. Optional remote work for the remainder.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems and Network Administration or similar (or four years of equivalent experience) plus 2 years of experience in a technical support role required.
