SUMMARY:
The Vice President for Finance provides advice and counsel to the President, the Executive Leadership team, the Board of
Trustees, and the campus community regarding financial resource management operations and is a member of the President’s Executive
Leadership team. The Vice President is responsible for the leadership and management of campus financial and human resources services,
including but not limited to annual operating and capital budgeting, cash management, financial reporting and forecasting, strategic
planning for financial health, audit and investments, as well as oversight for human resources, compliance, banking, employee benefits,
insurance coverage, business office, student accounts, etc. Reports directly to the President of the University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
Directly supervises the following areas: Human Resources, Purchasing & Procurement, Student Accounts. Carries out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals,
financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members
of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
Advance skills in Microsoft office such as excel pivot tables, knowledge of ERP systems and
accounting software. The knowledge and ability to automate using the University system. Prior use of Ellucian products helpful.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability
to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete
variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to
sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The
employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-20
pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the
employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
The noise level
in the work environment is usually quiet.
