Boundary Bend Olives, Inc./ Cobram Estate Olives is searching for an energetic and enthusiastic Junior Agronomist to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for providing support to the Agricultural Manager and Technical Officer through the analysis and interpretation of field data and research trials. Assist in establishing strategies for achieving best practices in the technical operations team.

The Role:

The role will report to Agricultural Manager and be based at BBO’s Head Office in Woodland. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following activities:

Assist in developing better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improving crop yield, and help solve problems for clients.

• Assist in researching and promoting agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, climate, weather, and pest damage.
• Visiting fields to collect seed, plant, and soil samples.
• Assisting with testing samples for nutritional deficiencies, disease, or other changes.
• Assisting with the plant sourcing, testing, and selection.
• Keeping detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples
• Assist the Senior Technical Officer with harvest planning and quality control, including harvester efficiency tests.
• Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Irrigation Manager.

Qualifications | Experience | Skills & Attributes

• Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agriculture, or a related field
• Possess a valid, unrestricted drivers’ license.
• Ability to work both independently and with a team.
• Exceptional active listening, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.
• Proficiency with computers, especially MS
• Strong research, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outside in cold and hot weather, stand, walk, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.

Pay: $20.00 – $26.00 per hour
