The Farmer Laboratory at Boston University is seeking a motivated candidate to work with a team of investigators studying the mechanisms regulating the development and functions of adipose tissue using molecular biology, cell biology and biochemical assays. Such research will include mammalian culture, transfection and gene transfer in cultured cells, DNA and RNA prep and PCR assays, microscopy analysis, protein isolation and analysis and work with mouse models, including animal husbandry.
The selected candidate will conduct research on cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating the development and function of adipose tissue. Performs metabolic studies in mice and histological analysis of various tissues, isolates and cultures primary cells for analysis of the genome, RNA transcription and protein complexes. Assists with technical aspects of experiments under the direction of the PI or other more senior research staff. Makes observations and assists with the interpretation of experiment results. Contributes to the design of research experiments. Prepares and maintains research and laboratory materials and equipment.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one-year comparable experience.
