The Skeletal Mechanobiology and Biomechanics Lab (http://morganresearchlab.org; Dr. Elise Morgan, Principal Investigator) at Boston University is recruiting a senior postdoctoral associate or research scientist to: 1) lead research projects on bone failure and regeneration and mechanobiological feedback control; and 2) assist with management of the research group. This position is strongly affiliated with the Center for Multiscale and Translational Mechanobiology (http://www.bu.edu/mechanobiology). Together, the Lab and Center provide a leading research environment focused on high-impact discovery, career development, and building diverse and inclusive teams.
The primary responsibilities are:
• Serving as project manager (including some budgetary responsibilities) for one or more federally funded research projects on bone fractures, bone regeneration, and/or biological feedback control
• Assisting with mentoring and supervision of PhD students and technicians, including development of their research skills and written and oral communication skills
• Providing day-to-day oversight of some lab functions, including: overseeing processes for ordering and stocking supplies; keeping safety certifications up to date; and modeling responsible laboratory practices (creation and use of protocols, maintenance of file/data repositories, keeping thorough and accessible records in electronic laboratory notebooks and associated fields)
• Participating in preparation of the scientific and administrative sections of grant proposals and grant reports
The incumbent of this position may also participate in teaching a graduate colloquium course, depending on the department’s need and the incumbent’s interest. This is a full-time, benefits eligible appointment.
The duration of the appointment is 2-5 years, renewable annually.
