SUMMARY:
The Manager of Benefits is responsible for administering the medical, dental, vision, life insurance, pension, 401 (K) and other and benefit plans for the Company. Monitors and updates the benefits programs to ensure alignment with business objectives. Implements best practices and technology to deliver and communicate the benefits programs. In addition, the Manager will coordinate with providers to ensure customer service and continuous improvement of services. Assures thorough audits, reports and personal contact that the company’s benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. This position is 100% on-site at our corporate office in Carlsbad, CA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Stays abreast of changes and trends in the health and welfare industry and makes recommendations to Senior Management.
* Manages the annual open enrollment for the health and welfare and pension plans.
* Be familiar with Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting requirements
* Reviews and analyzes the benefit market to determine employee needs, trends, regulations, practices and develops competitive programs and services to meet employee and company objectives.
* Directs preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits programs such as health insurance plans, 401 K, life and other employer sponsored plans.
* Develops strategic relationships with key vendors; manage vendor relationships and performance.
* Manage coordination of all health and welfare claim appeals. This includes all correspondence, research of facts and alternatives, record keeping and deadline adherence.
* Manage and reconcile the monthly benefits invoice receivables for timely and accurate processing by accounts payable
* Works with payroll team to coordinate system updates and data retrieval; Recommends business process improvements having a HRIS component and serves on teams to implement business process changes
* Administers and monitors the Employees’ Retirement Savings Plan (401[k]) program. Responsible for communicating and educating employees regarding 401(k) Plan issues and coordinates with third party vendors for distributions.
* Directs compliance with applicable health & welfare laws and regulations including, ERISA, HIPPA, Section 125, Section 137 discrimination testing, and applicable IRS code. Keeps informed of new trends and developments in alternative methods of compensation and changes in tax law.
* Manages the leave of absence programs for the company including preparing FMLA and other leave paperwork and meeting state and federal compliance regulations.
* Responsible for the development of communications associated with all benefit plan activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field.
* Minimum of eight years’ experience in Benefits with a minimum of 5 years managing the benefits function.
* Professional certification a plus.
* Sound knowledge of regulations governing benefit plans and administration including ERISA, HIPPA, Section 125, Section 137, Section 409, and other applicable IRS code.
* Must be a hands-on, service-oriented individual with exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Must also be able to work independently on a variety of concurrent assignments.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* This is largely a sedentary role; however, this role may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand to complete other administrative functions.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
* This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

Benefits & Compensation
Bergelectric offers a competitive wage and benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, 401k & life insurance. The pay range for this role is $80,000-$90,000/yr.* The compensation and title are subject to change depending on a candidate’s relevant experience.
