Under the general direction of the Vice President of Student Success & Engagement (SSE), the Coordinator of
Disability Student Services (DSS) is responsible for promoting an accessible, inclusive, and equitable culture for
students with disabilities. The Coordinator works closely with faculty, staff, and administrators of the college to
ensure that students with disabilities are appropriately accommodated in all aspects of their college experience. The incumbent is responsible for the development of policies and procedures that address the needs and concerns of students with disabilities and ensure campus compliance to all applicable federal laws. The incumbent ensures legal compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, 2008 Amendments to the ADA, Sections 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other legislation pertinent to persons with disabilities.
The position functions as the primary institutional representative for ADA monitoring and compliance, and is also
responsible for the development then coordination and day-to-day operations of Disability Student Services. The
Coordinator reviews documentation to identify the disability and determine the appropriate academic
accommodations for new and returning students with disabilities each semester, incorporating problem solving
strategies and referrals to other Baker College resources. The incumbent must be able to approach work that is data driven, scalable, strategic, proactive, and aligned with the College’s and SSE Team’s initiatives.
