IT Support Technician II

TITLE: Information Systems Specialist II

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

REPORTS TO: Mgr., Information Technology

Synopsis of Position:

Maintain day-to-day operations of all computer and software systems, all mobile and cellular devices, printers and copiers, phone systems, fax machines, and A/V equipment. Provide technical advice and support to effectively facilitate the end-users use of computer software and hardware. Assist with network administration and support. The Information Systems Specialist I makes recommendations regarding hardware and software procurement; and prepares and maintains documentation as needed or required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Maintain networked computers in a 500+ node network.
• Support Windows Operating Systems, IBM Notes, SAP client connectivity, MS Office Applications, networked printers and copiers, wired and wireless networking, and mobile and wireless devices (i.e. iOS, Android, Windows, etc.).
• Provide 1st – 2nd level Help Desk support.
• Provide 1st – 2nd level support for PBX, phones, and voice systems.
• Provide 1st – 2nd level support and assistance for Audio/Visual and VTC systems.
• Perform networking administration and support duties, which could include tape backup maintenance, user creation/deletion/maintenance, and other duties as needed.
• Provide hardware and software requirements for the procurement of computer and software needs.
• Maintain hardware and software inventory and controls lifecycle of hardware and software assets.
• Maintain hardware and software inventory and control lifecycle of physical assets through disposal.
• Provide IT and Telecom vendor management for required systems and project needs.
• Provide users training to include new-hire orientation, proper use of IT assets, such as computers, laptops, mobile devices, and software.
• Install, update and configure various Windows operating systems in an Active Directory Services (ADS) domain environment
• Create user accounts, mailboxes, adjust security group memberships and otherwise administer domain objects in an ADS
• Install, update MS Office applications and configure Notes profiles in a Lotus Domino environment
• Install, configure and support mainstream client applications commonly found in a corporate environment; create and update as needed installation instructions of non-standard applications
• Install software drivers and connect computer peripherals such as monitors, printers, document scanners, barcode scanners, label makers and assorted USB and Bluetooth client devices
• Hardware troubleshooting and new system builds, break/fix, installations, and upgrades
• Configure, deploy, update and support Apple iOS handheld devices in a MS Exchange environment
• Pull cables and rewire or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration
• Install, configure and secure Wireless Access Points and connect client devices
• Act as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; provide Help Desk support and implement solutions or notify outsource providers as required
• Assist in instructing staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management; provide instruction or written documentation where required; provide training and orientation of IT systems to new employees
• Make hardware and software procurement recommendations including helping users assess needs and provide justification for equipment and services
• Record and maintain a library of software licenses and product keys to ensure compliance
• Ensure all computer systems are protected from Viruses, Trojans and other Malware; heal infected PCs as needed

Qualifications/Skills/ Experience/ Education:

• CompTIA A+ and/or MCP (or equivalent) or 3+ years equivalent work experience
• Good communications and organizational skills
• 3+ years Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (use, installation, and support)
• 3+ years Microsoft Office experience (use, installation, and support)
• Computer Hardware installation & troubleshooting
• Mobile/wireless/tablet device installation & troubleshooting
• Mac hardware and software experience a plus
• IBM Notes experience a plus
• Phone systems, PBX, Voice-mail experience a plus
• Ability to build excellent relationships with customers while maintaining a modest, humble, polite and approachable demeanor
• Demonstrated knowledge of Windows desktop products
• Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and multi-function devices
• Working knowledge of backup and disaster recovery concepts and techniques; experience with at least (1) third party backup software
• Working knowledge of computer networking with an understanding of TCP/IP concepts including DHCP, DNS, FTP and SMTP;
• Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
