ABOUT THE ROLE?

The Head of Commercial IT – Biopharmaceutical business will be accountable for the overall running of the global Commercial BBU IT team.

In addition to leading Biopharmaceutical Business Unit IT, this role will double-hat and will also have accountability for the US BBU technology solutions, EUCAN and Vaccine technology. Although this role will double-hat as the US regional lead, it is critical that they balance this role with the global remit which includes EUCAN and Vaccine business. Using their extensive experience, pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical industry intelligence and an in-depth understanding of business processes and priorities to build and deliver an integrated roadmap to digitally transform the Biopharmaceutical business.

Together with their Business counterparts, this role and team, will bring thought leadership of what Technology can do to advance our business, lead the identification of business problems, develop and present business cases, ensure successful delivery of solutions and leverage investments to create maximum value. They will also help drive standardization of processes and tools as we leverage standardization as a competitive advantage. The key focus will be on driving the highest impact business outcomes and utilization of global platforms, capabilities and architecture. This role works closely with Commercial IT Global Business partners to orchestrate and plan effective deployment of global solutions into regions and sites, including local requirements, dependencies, etc. and will collaborate closely with the Commercial Solution Delivery & Service teams as well as Enterprise Architecture and other global delivery teams.

KEY INFORMATION ON ROLE

• The Head of Commercial IT, Biopharmaceutical Business will be a member of the US Leadership Team and US BBU LT, covering all teams, business processes and systems across the region.

• The role will also be part of the Commercial IT LT and report to the VP Commercial IT

• C 10+ direct reports but will also direct others through an extensive matrix management structure.

• The key stakeholders for this role are the Country President and US Leadership Team.

• The role will work closely with relevant business teams, Global IT Functions, Capabilities, Architecture, Analytics and Solution & Service delivery teams.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Demonstrated ability to influence very Senior Leaders and the direction of the business and be a trusted advisor

• Demonstrated ability to act as a technology Thought Leader and sell new ideas / concepts into the business.

• Recognised both Internally and externally for thought leadership in Digital and IT

• Ability to identify and remediate risks (financial, people, activities)

• Ability to shape IT strategy

• Strong people management and employee engagement

• Rich experience of bio-pharma industry

• Experience of identification and implementation of innovative technology solutions

• Evidence of leading, developing and delivering innovative solutions

• Experience of defining the business strategies and influencing the vision of senior leaders

• Experience of leading high value business cases & mobilising high value investments

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Educated to degree level standard or equivalent (business technology or related degree)

• Leader within pharma thought leadership networks and organisations

• Ability to work well in and across diverse global teams

• Experience in managing, developing and leading global teams
