About The position:

This position is located at the Goodyear Proving Grounds in San Angelo, Texas, and is responsible for providing technical and engineering support for daily operations and developing future capabilities and technologies. The work will vary from day to day and may include but not be limited to: designing, assembling, supporting, and installing mechanical, electronic, and data acquisition equipment, components and systems; collaboratively developing and implementing new test procedures, test hardware, and facilities to fulfill the PG mission; troubleshooting test and support systems as necessary, and monitoring and maintaining assigned equipment and surfaces. The incumbent may provide mentoring and training for less experienced associates.

50% of the effort will be dedicated to supporting OTR testing – supporting OTR tire test / prep equipment and tested OTR tire analysis – and 50% to supporting consumer/commercial/other testing and equipment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop a deep understanding of assigned test procedures and equipment
• Support or lead collaborative projects to implement or improve proving grounds capabilities and capacity.
• Conduct statistical analysis including Test Variation analysis, Gauge R&R analysis, and Measurement Uncertainty studies
• Support Technology and Capability development projects
• Provide training to other associates as assigned
• Develop technical expertise for assigned equipment and test surfaces.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause and resolve the issue.
• Support the continuous improvement in productivity or capability through process, program, or hardware re-design and re-engineering.
• Perform AutoCAD based design work in support of projects and operations
• Ensure testing readiness through data driven monitoring and health evaluation of equipment and test surfaces
• Propose and implement processes and procedures to improve equipment and surface uptime.
• Maintain, update, or modify data acquisition, analysis, and reporting programs written in VBA, C++, Access, PLC, excel, National Instruments LabVIEW, etc.
• Coordinate with corporate and external programming resources to assure the delivery of Unquestionable Data On Time
• Comply with all Company policies for Health, Safety, Environmental and Operations. Follow all safety rules and practices.
• May be involved in Safety committees or safety initiatives.
• Perform other functions and duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• BS in relevant STEM field and 4 or more years of relevant experience or an advanced STEM degree and 2 or more years relevant experience required
• Experience with tire testing, experience with VBA and C++ coding, Project Management preferred
• Practical understanding of science and technology in the appropriate discipline
• Good planning, experimentation, and documentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
• Physical Testing experience and Tire experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,934.73 – $85,000.00 per year
