SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff (COS) for the Entrepreneurial College, the Associate Dean of Reskilling & Corporate Training has the primary responsibility of providing strategic leadership, direction, and management for all efforts related to non-credit classes, apprenticeship, continuing education programs, and activities designed to enhance the advancement and development of the College, a complex portfolio of federal grants, state and local grants, local business funds, and special project funds. The Associate Dean of Reskilling & Corporate Training is also responsible for providing administrative leadership over Workforce Development, Adult Education, and Work Ready initiatives. This individual is responsible for cultivating, securing, and maximizing non-state resources and overseeing internal and external communication. Support faculty, staff, and students by upholding state and national apprenticeship program standards.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Serves Students. Performs advanced budget management and project reconciliation in support of daily operations for Workforce Development and the Entrepreneurial College. Plans, manages, and oversees all aspects of division financial management functions including human resource allocations, project spending, and workforce program resource needs for operations. Reconciles grant spending to compliance regulations and coordinates reporting activities. Facilitates the development of, and maintains adherence to, a cyclical budget review process for internal division operations activity. Performs and oversees division budget preparation, cost analysis/allocation, procurement task management, transaction reconciliation; financial management, audit, and reporting tasks. Uphold state and national apprenticeship program standards. Recommends alternatives to division management when accounting data indicates trends or situations requiring action. Prioritizes work to meet deadlines and to keep the CEO and the COS informed of any unusual or irregular issues that would impact the achievement of a deadline, a District policy or procedure, or in consideration of risk management.
Represents the college in the business community by interacting with local businesses/industry, Chambers of Commerce, and economic development entities. Manages and coordinates the development of educational services to support local economic development initiatives by collaborating with area economic development agencies to develop business recruitment and expansion strategies. Works with diverse community groups, facilitating new partnerships through outreach and maintaining existing relationships. Develops and maintains working relationships with the advisory boards, external contacts, alumni, volunteers, faculty, and staff.
Develops, implements, manages, and evaluates credit and non-credit educational services, apprenticeship programs, and other programs that address the needs of local, regional, and state businesses and industries. Develops and implements strategies to secure year-to-year increases in participation and support for the college. Collaborates with administration and faculty across AWC, including Associate Deans of South Yuma County and La Paz County, to develop new workforce programs and enhance existing programs.
Participates in regular cross-discipline collaboration meetings with the CEO, COS, and all other Entrepreneurial College Executive Directors and Deans to 1) ensure programs are offered at optimal times and locations to meet student and industry demands; and 2) ensure aligned, well-coordinated strategies to identify, broker, manage, and continuously improve employer partnerships that transition AWC students into in-demand jobs.
Prepares, recommends, and administers the budget for the division and its departments; remains informed on sources of income, especially federal and state aid. Assists with writing grants to create revenue for new or existing programs. Develops annual departmental and program budgets. Monitors budget versus actual revenue and expenses. Develops and implements contingency plans.
Routinely attends special events and actively promotes program activities at all campuses. Routinely represents the college with local councils, police juries, chambers, workforce investment councils, economic development organizations and other regional, municipal, or local government entities/organizations in order to best position the college for support throughout the region served by.
Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
