The Biodesign Center of Molecular Design and Biomimetics at the Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona invites applications for a research track faculty position at the level of Research Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to support multiple cancer research projects focused on colon, pancreatic, liver and breast cancer treatment, with a particular focus on guiding mixed methods research and addressing research questions related to the relationship of self-assembling drug to cancer treatment.

Essential Duties:

§ Establish cellular mechanism research of antitumor efficacy to evaluate the self-assembly DNA nanostructure drug or drug delivery nanoparticles.

§ Establish animal metastasis model of pancreatic, colorectal, and breast cancer.

§ Provides research support, imaging advice, technical guidance, and maintain complex collaborations with researchers across the medical colleges and hospital.

§ Trains and manages a team of graduate students, postdocs, undergraduate researchers and volunteers to maintain cell cultures and perform tasks in Cancer Biology and Molecular Pathology.

§ Ensures that the graduate students have effective administrative policies and procedures following both University and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.

§ Write grants to support research in DNA nanotechnology for cancer research applications.

§ Perform cell culture, Western Blot analysis, Flow cytometry, ELISA, and HALO assay

§ Perform animal model of cancer metastasis, tumor xenograft, and evaluate the antitumor efficacy of self-assemble DNA nanostructure drug in vivo.

Working Environment:

§ Regular activities require ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, to be able to prioritize tasks; to manage conflict: to interact in a team environment: and to communicate through verbal and written work.

§ Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting and laboratory subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating; a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distance to perform work.

§ Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.

§ Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and / or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

§ Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.

§ May be required to wear personal protective equipment before entering laboratories such as lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, closed toe shoes and respirator.

Minimum Qualifications:

§ PhD in cancer biology, molecular pathology, or related field

§ Prior research experience

Desired Qualifications:

§ Expertise in cancer research as demonstrated in publication record 

§ Expertise in designing qualitative data collection and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data 

§ Strong track record of first- and co-authored publications

§ Postdoctoral training in cellular mechanism of carcinogenesis, metastasis of cancers or related field desirable

§ Original written editorial content and edit commission content, in the form of views articles, editorials, reviews, and other content.
