DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the
assigned supervisor in the Office of Human Resources and Employee Relations, performs a variety of technical clerical duties related to the
assigned human resources programs; including, but limited to, recruitment, compensation, benefits, risk management, workers compensation,
and record maintenance of the District’s personnel. Performs other human resources related processes or duties as may be
assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Human Resources Technician is the experienced-level
classification in the Human Resources; whereas, the Human Resources Assistant is the entry-level classification in the Human Resources
series. Differences in the classifications are in level of responsibility and independence in the performance of a variety of technical
clerical duties.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The
classification specification provides a summary of typical job duties performed, along with the general nature and level of work performed
by employees in this classification. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Solicits from and provides
information to employees, job applicants, school districts, public agencies and the general public regarding personnel-related functions
such as recruitment, examinations, classification, workers compensation, benefits, medical data, employee records, and human resources
policies and procedures. (E)
• Reviews, processes and aids in the completion of human resources forms and related documents for
compliance with applicable procedures and policies. (E)
• Prepares, types and distributes a variety of human resources forms,
job announcements, lists, correspondence and other materials related to assigned personnel functions including letters to applicants
regarding interviews, test results, agendas, and insurance forms. (E)
• Reviews and retrieves specific personnel data, finds
discrepancies, or verifies information such as employees’ job assignments, classification, benefits, and other pertinent information.

• Retains and purges documents in accordance with record retention policies and regulations. (E)
• Obtains
proper documentation and clearance related to screening for employment such as fingerprint review, medical examination, and education
verification. (E)
• Coordinates examination logistics including: scheduling candidates, soliciting rater involvement; arranging
rater panels, copying and collating examination materials. (E)
• Proctors meetings; including, taking notes, distributing
agendas, checking identification, distributing material, instructing and monitoring to ensure confidentiality and that instructions are
being followed, collecting and accounting for materials used. (E)
• Coordinates, processes, and acts as a main contact for
temporary office workers. (E)
• Performs regular data entry into human resources information system. (E)
• Performs
regular logging, filing and organizing of personnel records. (E)
• Assists Human Resources staff with technical duties as
assigned.
• Performs related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:
Experience: Two years of general clerical experience including one year in a human resources office or
role.
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

OF:

procedures used in human resources and benefits administration.
• Relevant provisions of the California Education Code,
Administrative Procedures and Board Policies, and collective bargaining agreements

and classified employees.

Laws, rules, regulations involved in assigned human resources activities. .
• Good oral and written communication
skills.
• Basic mathematics with the ability to prepare various data using formulas and spreadsheets.

• Record-keeping techniques, input, and
data retrieval procedures for databases and computerized document and content management systems and manual filing systems.

District organization, operations, policies and objectives.
• Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
• Microsoft Office suite
• Proficient use of databases, spreadsheets, word processing and web-based programs.
• Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

• Perform a variety of administrative support duties related to the human resources function.
• Perform a variety
of technical duties related to the employment, recruitment, benefits and records for the district’s certificated and classified
personnel.

• Develop and maintain confidential human
resources records.
• Provide information and assistance to employees, supervisors and administrators.
