General Summary:
The Ice and Rain Protection Systems (IRPS) Engineer supports the technical aspects of one or more of the sub-systems within the IRPS (Windshield Heat Control, Horizontal Tail De-Ice and Wing Anti-Ice).
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees and coordinates of all aspects of one or more IRPS sub-system project activities through all phases of the project including preliminary design, detailed design, development, certification, production, and product support.
2. Tracks and reports status of action items related to design, development, certification and flight test related to one or more sub-systems within the IRPS.
3. Prepares and maintains functional test procedures to test the IRPS sub-system as installed on the aircraft
4. Prepares and maintains functional interface control document(s) that identify the integration requirements between the IRPS sub-system and the aircraft avionics / electrical power system.
5. Prepares and maintains regression test procedures to test the avionics / electrical power system integration of the IRPS sub-system.
6. Conducts regression tests to ensure that the IRPS sub-system is integrated into the avionics
/ electrical power system per the released requirements.
7. Prepares, maintains, and tracks issue reports associated with the IRPS sub-system to closure/resolution.
8. Provides technical and logistical assistance to manufacturing and flight test to resolve any technical issues associated with the IRPS sub-system.
9. Prepares/reviews qualification test procedures and qualification test reports associated with the IRPS sub-system.
10. Establishes qualification test schedules with the supplier of the IRPS sub-system and coordinate Designated Engineering Representative (DER) support.
11. Reviews and coordinates complex hardware / software deliverables between the supplier, HAC and the DERs.
12. Supports the creation of the certification plan for the IRPS.
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
1. Bachelors of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four year college or university program is preferred.
2. Previous experience including internships and co-ops in the area of flight critical systems, including requirements development, design, integration, and testing would be beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of aircraft communication buses such as ARINC 429 strongly preferred.
2. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Project Management, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint).
3. Strong organizational skills.
4. Strong presentational skills.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
8. Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
