DEFINITION:
Under supervision of the Director EOPS/Special Outreach, performs student services work in the area of Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS); Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE), California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs); academic advising; to plan, organize, and carry out assigned program responsibilities; to provide financial aid information and advising; to provide academic advising; to conduct program research, and needs assessments; and value and promote the mission and vision of the college.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
The incumbent, under minimal supervision, in this position performs work in the planning, organizing, and carrying out of the college’s EOPS, CARE and CalWORKs programs with a considerable degree of independence. The incumbent in this position also provides financial aid information and academic advising. An incumbent has a high frequency of contact with staff, students, the general public, and representatives of social service agencies and representatives of other educational institutions. Incumbents will also interact with clientele from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and may be required to read, write, and converse fluently in English/Spanish language.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human services, psychology, sociology, education or closely related fields. Individuals possessing the education, knowledge and abilities listed above are considered to possess the necessary experience.
Desirable qualification:
Counseling related or teaching experience in an education or Social Services agency environment
Desired start date is September 2023. This is a full-time, 37 hours per week, 12-month
classified position.
Hours for this position are:
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
