Job Description

This role is a Systems Engineer supporting our client’s program which is building a new satellite for the government. This role can be 100% REMOTE, with some travel per quarter to CO Springs (1-2 times per quarter). This is a long term Actalent Consultant opening with our client – we can offer a very competitive hourly rate, two-three weeks accrued PTO, federal holiday, as well as enhanced benefits.

Our client’s program/system is composed of three principal segments: the Space Segment (satellites), the Control Segment (operators), and the Terminal Segment (users). Each satellite provides service in multiple frequency bands, with the unprecedented ability to cross-band between the two frequencies on board the satellite. Program augments other satellites.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Managing requirements and ensuring requirements previous written meet the needs for the software that the developers are writing
• Implementing requirements in coordination with software and I&T teams
• Writing additional requirements to fill holes/gaps that may exist from previously written requirements in order to complete execution/implementation
• Work with System Architect to make sure sequence diagrams are working properly to ensure the right system behavior
• Acting as a liaison between Payload team and software team to make sure everything is in sync
• As time goes on, requirements management will be less and verification/validation will become more prominent

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Payload systems engineering
• Strong understanding of software and how code works (preferably flight software or similar)
• Understanding of system architecture, design and test
• Eligibility to obtain a US SECRET clearance (not needed to start the role)

• Software development experience in Java or Python
• AWS
• JIRA/Git
• SOA, REST, JSON, JMS, XML/XSD, PowerShell
