Basic Responsibilities
A.
Develop, maintain, and integrate software used by the university.
B. Administer and support software applications used by the
university.
C. Provide customer support.
D. Provide training and mentoring for junior programmers and student programmers.
E.
Lead/Supervise projects.
Flexible schedules including work-from-home options are available
to motivated individuals.
Essential Duties

A. Develop, maintain, and integrate software used by the university.
1.
Writing and maintaining software to meet program specifications.
2. Integrating and modifying third party software with the ACU
environment.
3. Modifying software to accommodate the ACU environment.
4. Testing new software and changes to existing software to
ensure applications meet ACU’s quality standards and conform to industry practices.
5. Documenting software systems, including program
development and revisions in a source code repository.
B. Administer and support software applications used by the university.

Installing new software and required upgrades.
2. Testing new software and changes to existing software to ensure applications meet ACU’s
quality standards and conform to industry practices.
3. Documenting software systems.
4. Participating in teams to maximize the use of
software applications on campus.
C. Provide customer support.
1. Supporting business areas in their use of software
applications.
2. Analyzing business requirements and recommending software to fill business needs.
3. Researching and responding to
questions and problems related to software systems.
4. Documenting issues identified in software systems.
5. Creating a path to
resolution for issues identified in software systems.
6. Communicate with users to understand project requirements.
D. Provide
training and mentoring for junior programmers and student programmers.1. Defining work processes/standards, such as how to set up a project
and code style.
2. Helping programmers learn software and business logic.
3. Coordinate the schedules and training of student
programmers.
E. Lead/Supervise projects
1. Analyze and scope project requests to determine technical requirements and
timeline.
2. Providing project layout guidance and decision making.
3. Supervising check-in/check-out of code.
4. Making sure
coding standards are met.
5. Signing off on projects via testing.
Professional Development Requirements
A.
Skills
1. Adept interpersonal and communications skills.
2. Strong organizational skills, ability to work on multiple tasks
simultaneously.
3. Programming experience with Java and Python in an enterprise environment.
4. Experience with MVC design
architecture and frontend technologies such as
HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
5. Programming experience with relational SQL databases,
including Oracle
PL/SQL.
6. Familiarity with an Agile workflow.
7. Experience developing, designing, and implementing integrations
that consume
data from REST API endpoints
8. Experience using code management tools such as Git, Maven, and Gradle.
9. Thorough
knowledge of client and server operating systems like Windows, Linux,
and Mac OS.
10. Experience with web and application server setup
and administration, including
Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, and Nginx.
11. Thorough knowledge of the differences in web browsers,
operating systems, and
current web technologies.
12. An understanding of usability and accessibility issues.
13. Ability to learn
and keep current with information technology and its application
to Higher Education. This includes participating in conferences and
training
classes on Higher Education application software or computing systems.

Qualifications
A. ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the
employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.
B. Professional
1. Bachelor’s
Degree, preferably in STEM, or equivalent experience.
2. Programming, database support, or systems support experience.
3. Application
management and support experience.
C. Personal
1. Work as a team member.
2. Good communication skills: oral and written.
3.
Strong people skills: interact with students, faculty, staff, contractors, and vendors.
Physical Demands
A. Must be
able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
B. Must be able to work extended hours as the need arises. This includes on-call
rotation and performing software maintenance and updates outside of working hours.
