AARP Hiring for Instructional Designer at Washington, DC  Full Time

Human Resources is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AARP enterprise-wide human resource strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and related systems. This includes employee compensation and benefits, organization design and integration, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.

The Instructional Designer designs talent development programs (workshops, classes, job aids, training material, etc.) and identifies critical workforce requirements (e.g., skills, competencies, and performance outcomes) necessary to achieve current and future business objectives. Identifies topics and partners with internal and external experts to develop curriculum and education content. Designs, develops, and facilitates leadership development workshops.

Responsibilities

• Manages cohort-based programs, including all communications, manager outreach, preparatory assignments, participant selection, learning sustainment, and program promotion. Promotes events and ensures learner engagement, enrollment, and satisfaction.
• Creates learning opportunities that support learning needs and business requirements. Applies adult learning theory and the neuroscience of learning to design and build learning solutions and experiences. Designs/develops instructional sound learning solutions and experiences. Plans and implements educational curriculum tools.
• Conducts training needs analysis to inform performance objectives, instructional strategies, and project scope. Assesses enterprise-wide learning and development needs.
• Provides consulting on talent development projects across the organization, including requests to develop/deploy new training activities and sustain existing programs.
• Provides recommendations for enhancing content by highlighting industry best practices and ensuring that the organization’s standards are being met. Consults on development opportunities training programs. Performs detailed audience analysis and facilitates in-person and virtual workshops.
• Addresses questions and issues identified by learners, facilitators, program owners, and other stakeholders.
• Identifies, evaluates, and implements opportunities to engage and educate learners on talent development programs and system features/functionality/procedures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in learning and development, specifically, designing and developing enterprise leadership and management curriculum and workshops, including instructor-led (in-person and virtual) experiential and hands-on workshops.
• Knowledge of training methodologies, adult learning requirements, needs assessment, and evaluation.
• Extensive experience facilitating a variety of learning experiences in a workplace setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, Organizational Psychology, Organization Development, or related field required.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Education Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Leadership Development, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or Learning Systems.

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
