ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES: * Serve as main point of contact for all employees within manufacturing operations, remote sales and transport drivers * Provide HR/ safety support, with assistance from HR Admin * Manage safety programs, policies, and training for employees and managers, while adhering to OSHA and DOT regulations, with direction from Corporate VP, EHS * Assist in resolution of grievances filed by union representatives, BCT Local 280 * Negotiate renewal of labor agreement contracts, typically 3-year terms * Manage Performance Evaluation Program * Develop, recommend and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain facility handbook and benefits guide * Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt, and hourly workers; write and place advertisements; work with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conduct all pre-employment screenings; conduct new-hire orientations * Maintain company’s applicant tracking system * Develop HR department goals and initiatives; participate in goal setting initiatives for plant * Manage all FMLA and attendance tracking * Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws * Lead and maintain necessary audit compliance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: This person would need to come from within the manufacturing industry and preferably someone who has worked in an industry with multiple shift employees. Preferred to have strong union experience * College degree (B.S.) in Human Resource Management or related field experience required * 3-5 years of Human Resource Experience in a manufacturing environment, required. * SHRM-CP / PHR certification preferred. * Strong union background, with a minimum of two (2) solid years’ experience in employee relations, preferred. * Experience in safety management preferred.
