JOB POSTING
This position works remotely requiring a telecommuting agreement and adherence to the UCSC Telecommuting/Remote Work Guidelines. The employee shall be available in a full-time capacity during assigned telecommuting work hours (specific hours to be discussed with supervisor). While telecommuting/remote working, the employee is responsible for ensuring a worksite environment suitable for accomplishing their regular job duties during scheduled hours of work and, if applicable, arranging for dependent care just as they would if they were working at the regular UCSC worksite.

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is a public agency supported by 15 members (13 states, one territory and the Bureau of Indian Education). Through the work of thousands of educators, Smarter Balanced created an online assessment system aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), as well as tools for educators to improve teaching and learning. Smarter Balanced is housed at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) Silicon Valley Extension.

JOB SUMMARY
Independently oversees an academic tool for K-12 educators, Tools for Teachers, and represents the program to members and potential partners. Oversees the product and its go-to-market planning by using advanced skills related to K-12 pedagogy, effective use of learning management systems, multimedia design and delivery systems and balanced assessment to define and address requirements related to the relationship between instruction and formative assessment (i.e., inform and adjust instruction). Designs and develops major program components and works with Product Manager, Tools for Teachers on formulating short- and long-term planning for the content development within the product. Develops and organizes member-managed resource development workshops. Works under direction of Deputy Executive Program Officer-Content for Teaching and Learning to establish content plans / prototypes, budget, and objectives. Provides strategic analysis of content standards, curricula, learning design, professional development resources, summative / interim results-to-resource mapping, educator input and knowledge of pedagogy to analyze content and opportunities for expanding offerings with Tools for Teachers, as an integral component of the Smarter Balanced Assessment system. Serves as a central point of contact for other departments, and members regarding innovations, and instruction-formative assessment practices. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel and has exceptional communication skills that represent the organization well. Assumes responsibility for major components of the instructional and professional learning resources at Smarter Balanced. Works with technical experts and service providers to ensure that materials address the depth and breadth of the member states’ standards in an authentic manner that signal high-quality instruction. Creates guidelines and processes that ensure consistency and quality of materials development. Oversees a team of staff and contractors / vendors to create high-quality instructional and assessment materials.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Salary Information: Salary Range: $93,200 – $135,000 / Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
