Mt. Hood Community College Looking for HUB Onboarding Specialist Full Time

Job Summary
Works in the Student Services HUB to support the new student onboarding experience, and acts as a key resource to students for information and guidance. Provides direct student support for incoming and current students in the navigation of student services and academic progression. Assists with monitoring and implementation of early intervention strategies for proactive student retention including problem identification and solutions. Key focus will be with first generation students. 

Essential Duties

1. Assists students in navigating a variety of student services and programs. Provides general information and support for students on a drop in and appointment basis. Works with other staff to build effective, collaborative systems to serve students. 
2. Works with students to identify and solve problems related to progression challenges and barriers. Assesses college resources for solutions and connects students with appropriate resources, ensuring students know their next step after seeking assistance from the Student Services HUB.
3. Intakes data, tracks student progress, and identifies populations to proactively reach out to with assistance. Assists in creating analytics to develop intervention and onboarding strategies for select populations.
4. Works collaboratively across all relevant college departments to promote affordable resources to students and to actively connect students to those resources
5. Assists the Onboarding Assistant Director with the development, implementation, and operationalization of strategies to increase student retention and progression through direct student communication, intervention, and support.  
6. Works with the Student HUB team and assists with Early Alert interventions as directed by Director of Advising and Retention. Provides guidance to students in accordance with college policy and procedures.
7. Provides support to students as an “agent” through the LiveChat tool on the webpage. Works as part of larger college team to provide coverage to answer questions live when submitted to the college through the LiveChat tool.
8. Assists with enrollment data for new students throughout the year and during peak registration periods.
9. Provide collegial assistance and mentorship to student workforce while working in Student HUB. Model excellence in employment skills and customer service; demonstrate and coach student employees in their interactions. Provide staff expertise to student employees when necessary.
10. Works with marketing and recruitment to create media materials such as infographics, informational videos, etc. and communication materials to support onboarding and first-generation students.

Examples of Duties:
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Computer Skills, etc.)

• Bachelor’s degree in in education, social work, psychology or related field
• Two (2) years of experience in student services, student affairs, adult education, or similar environment which provide direct services to marginalized or underserved populations
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
• Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds; demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity

At the college’s discretion, additional qualifying experience may be substituted, year for year, for education.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working as an academic advisor or in a first-year experience program
• Bilingual skills with fluency in English and Spanish, Russian, or other languages that meet community needs.
• Experience working with student information systems and distance education software

Supplemental Information:

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a computer terminal. Visual eye strain and repetitive hand/wrist motion for data entry and keyboarding functions.

Salary:
Initial salary placement will be based on years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Handbook or Collective Bargaining Agreement.  Please include all relevant full and part-time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement.  Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
