National Louis University (NLU) is a 130+ year old university that is grounded in the values of innovation, access, excellence, and equity. As an institution, we believe in providing access to educational opportunity and that education is our greatest lever for social and economic mobility. We are a student-focused community that is committed to continuous improvement and asks how do we become more “student ready” so that we may better serve our students. We believe that through education we are able to empower change and build healthy communities. Our community works hard in the service of students and supports one another like a family.
The Director of Foundation Relations serves as the lead Advancement representative for a portfolio of foundation prospects and funders, securing support for NLU in restricted and unrestricted grants. The Director proactively identifies NLU needs, helps identify and research new foundation prospects, and partners and engages with faculty and colleagues across the institution to direct and/or assist in program and proposal development, and cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies. This role serves as a liaison to foundation program staff and officers, and aligns the investment priorities of each foundation with NLU needs. The Director of Foundation Relations develops compelling narratives, proposals and other communications tailored to each funder, and maintains the annual grant and reporting calendar. Additionally, the Director collaborates with colleagues to develop financial budgets and reports, and ensures that NLU accurately tracks and reports against stated metrics for successful grants.
