Develop, implement and maintain a creative program of public information
and public relations that will enhance the college’s public image, marketing and recruitment efforts. Is the key spokesperson to
local, state and national media. Works in a collaborative environment to provide accurate information on sensitive, confidential and
high-impact issues to the institution.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ability to tell
MSC’s story in visual, print and video.
2. Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets in and outside service
area.
3. Coordinate publicity requests and scheduling of announcements to media outlets.
4. Continually seek new methods to
publicize MSC, employees and students and communicate with media outlets.
5. Provide needed support to the President and other MSC
administrators, including but not limited to writing, taking photos and assisting with special events.
6. Maintain oversight of all
materials released by communications and recruitment offices in fulfillment of their missions.
7. Responsible for overseeing staff
writing style for publications released to the public.
8. Assists with copy reading of all printed pieces released for mass
distribution.
9. Collect information from campus groups, offices and individuals regarding events, activities and accomplishments for
internal and external release.
10. Maintain internal and external activity calendar.
11. Writes and oversees the timely
distribution of newsworthy items to the media, public and to be posted on the website and social media platforms.
12. Knowledgeable in
desktop publishing software, utilizing contemporary hardware and software to produce brochures, publicity, promotional material, news
stories and ads.
13. Develop and layout the Aggielite newsletter and the college’s annual report.
14. Maintain internal
communication documents such as the college’s social media guidelines, brand standards, crisis communication plan and the employee
directory.
15. Works with MSC administrators to release inclement weather and other campus closure announcements to appropriate
channels.
16. Serves as a key member of the Emergency Preparedness team, providing communications response during
emergencies.
17. Coordinates open records requests and research as needed.
18. Serves as the backup college photographer.
19. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
· To perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
·
Knowledge of Adobe Design Programs and digital photography
· Excellent writing, grammar and punctuation skills.
· Basic understanding of academics.
Education And/Or Experience
Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing, or related field.
Other Ergonomic Requirements
In performing job functions, some amount of stooping, kneeling,
bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying, and other movements may be required. Tasks such as typing and working
Hours:
Generally, weekdays (Monday through Friday) hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, some
games are scheduled for the evening. Other professional activities can be scheduled in accordance with college policy and in cooperation
with the supervisor.
