Duties:
Health Education: Provide accurate
health education and/or training to clients regarding their diagnoses and risk factors. Provide preventative health services i.e. family
planning, counseling for pregnancy, HIV and sexually transmitted infections, pap smears, breast exams, and immunizations. Provide health
education or training for campus community. Provide education to student groups and the campus community on health related topics. Advise
faculty and staff regarding student health problems and provide guidance when crises occur, within HIPPA guidelines. Implement interventions
and outreach projects, including, but not limited to, tuberculosis screening, flu immunization clinics and health fairs.Essential
Professionalism: Participate in campus wide
and division wide activities related to our department and campus medical services. Maintain confidentiality in health care records and all
other communications to comply with state and federal HIPAA regulations. Provide consultation for peer APRNs as needed and within the scope
of license and skills. Encourage and maintain collaborative relationships with area health care providers and agencies. Provide quality
assurance information to supervisor. Participate in staff meetings to regularly develop and review program plans and activities. May precept
student nurse practitioners’ or graduate interns’ clinical experiences. Write letters to students, parents, financial aid, and other service
providers as needed to provide necessary care.Essential
Clinical Services: Serves as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, independently diagnosing and treating complex conditions using
seasoned clinical judgment. Diagnose acute and chronic illnesses for a diverse multiage and multicultural population with multiple complex
and/or physical and mental health concerns. Order and may conduct laboratory services. Ensure that all testing is performed in compliance
with state and federal CLIA requirements. Consult with and refer to specialists in the health care community such as orthopedics, radiology,
endocrinology, dermatology, cardiology, psychiatry, physical therapy, etc. Implement and manage treatment of routine and complex acute and
chronic illnesses. Prescribe, manage and supervise pharmacological treatment for acute and chronic illnesses. Dispense medication and manage
clinic pharmacy consistent with state regulations. Maintain federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) licensure as required. Implement emergency
and crisis interventions for medical and psychiatric situations that arise within the Student Health and Counseling Center. Documentation of
information gathered and services provided in accordance with legal and professional standards. Communicate to students and health care
providers as needed for follow-up of acute and continuing care.Essential

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Significant,
relevant clinical experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR
TRAINING:
Master’s degree in Nursing
State of Alaska licensure as Advanced Nurse Practitioner
National
Certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP)
Significant relevant clinical experience
Experience in a student health center
preferred
DEA – current or ability to obtain
This is a full-time, term-funded, Grade 82, minimum
$72,363 yearly, (DOE and salary negotiable), 9 or 12 month position (negotiable) complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
