DEPARTMENT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Administrative Support Assistant II
Art Department
Salary Range: $3120 – $4592/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification. Temporary appointment expires on or before one year from date of hire, may be extended, may become permanent.
Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Chair of the Art Department, the Department Administrative Assistant performs a variety of administrative operations and functions of the department office and provides clerical support for the Department Chair and faculty. The incumbent will maintain all Graduate and Undergraduate files including verification and typing of student programs, processing of related forms and coordination of screenings and reviews for graduate students. The Department Administrative Assistant ensures that both graduate and undergraduate students are informed of the program requirements, and sets up advising appointments and issues permits as needed. The Department Assistant also serves as the attendance clerk for the Art Department, completing monthly attendance reports for Payroll; and assists the Department Coordinator as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Two years of full-time general office experience, which included providing work direction or acting as a lead. Incumbent must demonstrate ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects; knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages. Incumbent must possess fundamental writing and presentation skills to effectively communicate standard information. Ability to: apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; perform basic arithmetic calculations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; respond to routine inquiries; and explain standard policies and procedures to others. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
