ACCOUNTS PAYABLE TECHNICIAN
Accounting Technician III
Controller’s Office
Salary Range: $3,532 – $6,198/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.; non-exempt classification. Temporary twelve-month appointment from date of hire; may be extended.
Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the incumbent is responsible for: processing payments to Vendors and Employees; auditing and processing invoices for campus and the auxiliary organizations; processing travel claim payments, moving/relocation and recruitment expenses, and reporting fringe benefits; auditing and reconciling daily cash disbursement file as well as processing daily positive pay; accruing sales and use taxes; investigating and resolving errors and discrepancies; interpreting and applying a wide variety of written rules and regulations; creating, troubleshooting, modifying, running, analyzing, and exporting advanced queries; communicating established university policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and the general public, including those that require extensive interpretation; reconciling invoices charged on P-Card to monthly statement; participating in system testing and document testing results; performing other related duties; and cross-training with team members.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience which has provided the above knowledge and abilities OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Comprehensive knowledge of financial record-keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures, and practices. Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to interpret and apply a wide variety of written rules and regulations. Ability to maintain accounting records for funds, programs, or activities involving multiple transactions; compile, verify, and reconcile financial data; analyze and make independent judgment. Use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems, and/or other types of records management systems; and read and interpret computer-generated reports.

Preferred Qualifications: Two years of accounts payable experience in a higher education or not-for-profit organization.
