Summary
The Baker lab, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Michigan, announces an open position for a research technician seeking an interdisciplinary, open, and collaborative environment. The Baker lab focuses on how structure and mechanics of the cellular microenvironment influence fundamental cell processes such as migration, proliferation, and extracellular matrix synthesis. The lab offers cross-disciplinary training and research opportunities in the fields of biomaterials, mechanobiology, and tissue engineering/regenerative medicine. Technicians in the lab are expected to positively impact lab organization and upkeep while also contributing scientifically both independently and in collaboration with other members. This position, made available by NIH and NSF funding, will start at the successful candidate’s earliest availability and be annually renewed contingent upon the availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
**Note: This is a one year term-limited position with the possiblity of extension based on need and funding.

Responsibilities*
The responsibilities of this position include aiding in the maintenance of the lab’s vivarium, planning and executing scientific experiments to support ongoing projects in the lab, organization and management of lab resources and reagents, and performing experiments to support the lab’s efforts to secure funding.
Required Qualifications*
1) Candidates must have a BS in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field and 1-2 years of experience.
2) Expertise in at least one of the following areas:
* Cell biology and molecular techniques (e.g. primary cell isolation, cell and tissue culture, immunofluorescent staining, PCR, lentivirus preparation and transduction)
* Mouse colony maintenance and genotyping
* 3D confocal imaging and computational image analyses
Desired Qualifications*
Microfluidics, microfabrication, and organotypic modeling.
Background Screening
