Job Summary
Manage assigned institutional compliance functions to ensure university compliance with a variety of
state and federal regulations, grant requirements, ethics guidelines, etc.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the
Director of Student Affairs for Student Conduct and Title IX, the Compliance Officer is primarily responsible for the prompt,
thorough and impartial investigations of sexual violence and higher-level conduct complaints involving students, including bias related
incidents. In collaboration with the Director, develop investigation plans and coordinate and/or conduct investigations of Title IX, bias
related, and higher-level conduct cases in a timely manner. Prepare comprehensive investigation reports to be used in conduct hearings and
to inform University response.
The Compliance Officer assists in the development and implementation of best practices in Title IX and
Title VI Investigations, policy and campus training, keeping abreast of current state and federal laws, regulations and trends in Title IX
and Title VI compliance. They will assist in tracking cases, data and trends related to sexual misconduct and harassment complaints,
follow-up actions and resolutions, while maintaining detailed records. Research and assist with the administration of Title IX
prevention programming, including the creation, assembly and distribution of educational materials to the University community. The
Compliance Officer also assists with the preparation of updated written Title IX materials, including the University’s publications and web
content on sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking and intimate partner violence.
In addition, the Compliance Officer
ensures compliance with the documentation of conduct records and student incidents of Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and
Campus Crime Statistics Act and collaborate with the Director of Public Safety to ensure the compilation and regular review of data related
to campus crime statistics. They also contribute accurate student conduct and incident data to the Clery reporting committee in order for
Public Safety to publish the Annual Security Report required by law.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s
degree and five (5) years of related work experience.

Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace,
Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy,
Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights
and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
