The Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at the University of Nebraska –
Lincoln (UNL) is a residential honors program focusing on interdisciplinary computer science and business education. The school admits
cohorts of approximately forty high ability students per year. The Raikes School Design Studio software engineering project course is a
year-long capstone learning experience required of all Raikes School students and open to other UNL students. Raikes School
students take Design Studio during their junior and senior years. In their senior year, they hold leadership roles within the course. The
Design Studio projects follow an agile software development process and are sponsored by both national and local organizations. The Design
Studio reflects the Raikes School’s integration of computer science and business education.
The Design Studio Program Lead
supervises project and new partner on-boarding process for Design Studio. Work closely with partners and other Design Studio staff in the
identification and scoping of potential sponsored projects for students and assist contract process for projects. Mentor and support Design
Studio teams, help coach them to plan effectively, overcome or remove obstacles, and drive toward project success. Coach teams on agile
software development practices. Help manage Design Studio events such as the annual celebration, class retrospective, annual Design Studio
showcase, and related events.
Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,
Software Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience with agile project management in software
engineering or related field. Experience leading application development efforts and demonstrating attention to detail and organizational
skills. Evidence of excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong ability to network and build relationships
with community and institutional partners. Must be highly proficient in relevant software development tools and methodologies. Demonstrated
ability to work independently and manage/prioritize tasks.
Preferred qualifications include: Master’s degree in
Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Experience working with students or
mentoring junior developers. Higher education experience. Demonstrated ability to design solutions to abstract problems using software.
Experience in a startup environment.
