Description:
The Department of Biology and Environmental Science at the University of New Haven invites
applications for a tenure-track position beginning August 2022.
The Department seeks to hire a teacher-scholar with a strong
background in biochemistry, biotechnology, immunology, or related fields. This position will play a key role in our growing dual degree
program, which allows our students to obtain an undergraduate degree (Biology or Forensic Science) along with a Cellular and Molecular
Biology M.S. in 5 years. In addition to contributing to the graduate program course work, this position will teach undergraduate
Biochemistry. There is also an opportunity to teach courses in Immunology, Molecular Biotechnology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, or
upper-level and graduate courses in the applicant’s area of expertise. The department seeks a colleague who is interested in
networking with community and industry contacts to promote and build internship opportunities for our students. The successful candidate is
expected to establish a vigorous program of high quality, independently funded research that involves both graduate and undergraduate
students.
Our department is large and varied with undergraduate degrees in Biology, Genetics & Biotechnology, Marine Biology,
Marine Affairs, and Environmental Science and graduate master’s programs in Cell and Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, and
Marine Policy & Management. We have recently partnered with the Chemistry Department to launch an interdisciplinary Biochemistry degree.

Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related discipline.
· Demonstrated commitment to
student-centered, active learning.
· A commitment to equity and inclusion in higher education.
· Experience in
the use of technology to enhance pedagogy.
· University-level teaching experience is valued.
· Demonstrated
ability to publish and obtain extramural research funding is valued.
