Job Summary:
The Director of Operations (DO) leads the strategic business management and tactical operation of the Institute. The Director innovates, implements, and continually enhances the Institute’s programs and plans to ensure excellence at all levels.
Proactively interfacing with Institute senior management, executive committee and advisory board, the DO manages current initiatives and long-term planning in support of the Institute’s education, and research mission. The DO fosters the collaborative spirit of the Institute with alliances both internal and external to the University.
QSIB’s mission is to enable the development of biocompatible electronic, photonic, and microfluidic technologies for the human body, across a broad scope of applications, including those in medicine and human health. Given this mission, QSIB’s activities span the Northwestern campus – the majority of which fall within the Office for Research, McCormick School of Engineering, and Feinberg School of Medicine. The DO is responsible for managing these cross-campus operations to ensure that all financial and operational data reflect the full scope of QSIB activities.
QSIB is looking for a DO who has a deep understanding of the full lifecycle of sponsored research, well-rounded financial experience, a curiosity to learn about the Institute’s research, robust compliance experience, an analytical mindset, broad experience with systems and processes, and a willingness to dive into day-to-day tasks.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $96,000-$113,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
