The primary function of the Credit Manager is to help maintain/improve cash flow and working capital within the business. This position is responsible for establishing sound credit policies and procedures and administering all company credit operations. Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and external reporting agencies. Responsible for continual and sustainable process improvement by enhancing our credit processes and applying experience and technology advancements to scale credit controls. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, detail-oriented person who drives efficiencies within processes and systems and ensures the achievement of departmental strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the Credit department operations, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services and mitigation of credit risk through deployment of credit strategy.
* Develop and propose companywide credit policies, procedures, and practices to ensure effective and efficient governance of overall credit operations.
* Review and assess credit line applications and credit increase requests and perform credit risk assessments promptly.
* Maintain and monitor compliance with all adopted policies, recommending adaptations as business needs dictate
* Proactively monitor, evaluate, and mitigate risks by analyzing root cause issues, implementing actions to prevent future occurrences, and escalating concerns to key stakeholders.
* Provide periodic reporting to meet customer and business needs.
* Maintain effective partnerships with Sales, Operations, and Finance departments, proposing system optimization requirements to align with business development changes.
* Maintain positive working relationships with external agencies.
* Complete other credit-related tasks as required by leadership.
* Drive continuous process improvement within the credit department, ensure compliance with all regulatory laws, policies, and processing guidelines, and ensure that they are efficient and aligned with business objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting, Finance, or related business degree
* 8+ years experience with 5+ years’ high-volume credit and collects, 5+ years in credit risk management preferred, preferred 1-3+ years management experience
* Experience in corporate credit risk management
* Solid understanding and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven business acumen, and exceptional interpersonal capabilities
* Knowledge of lean principles, demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
* Exceptional interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders
* Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
* SAP experience
