Position Description:
The Center for the Transformation of Schools (CTS) at UCLA’s School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS) is dedicated to partnering with the education ecosystem to bring about systems change through Humanizing Research, Validating Practices, and Transformative Policies with key stakeholders to support equitable educational outcomes for historically underserved students. Under the general direction of the Research Director, Executive Director of Research Administration, and Faculty Directors, the CTS Research Analyst will play a significant role in developing, managing, and executing CTS’ growing portfolio for examining bright spots study. Reporting to the Research Director, the Research Analyst will acts as a primary point of contact with funders and key statewide partners to conduct several mixed-methods research projects including one on the bright spot case study which will explore the local and broader context in which bright spots sites are located, highlighting the instrumental role that leadership has in operating mission, procedures, and intentionality on Black students, another exploring site visits, and conducting observations of how school climate, teaching practices, and schoolwide policies represent an opportunity to improve experiences and outcomes for Black youth.
The Research Analyst will work closely with the Research Director, Executive Director of Research Administration, and Faculty Directors to support deliverables for both research portfolios. This includes establishing the research agenda and study design and analysis, identifying related research projects, scholarly networks, project development efforts, and supporting school, district, university, county, and state practices tied to the grant’s goals. The incumbent may be asked to assist with other CTS projects as needed. This position will be based at the Center for the Transformation of Schools at UCLA. Some travel to conduct field work and to attend conferences/meetings will be required.
The Research Analyst will also be responsible for managing bi-weekly meetings for Beyond the Schoolhouse research teams at CTS, meetings with center staff, supporting the project, and provide reporting to the foundation partners.
The Research Analyst will co-develop a timeline, evaluation metrics, and project management benchmarks in Monday.com with CTS staff and leadership, including external partners when appropriate and generate tools for measuring progress for the studies.
Special Instructions:
The budgeted hiring salary/target range for this position is the posted minimum to $6,567 monthly, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
