The mission of Pierce College is to create quality educational opportunities for a diverse community of learners to thrive in an evolving world. The Director of Education Programs helps advance the equity-centered mission of Pierce College by providing leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of all programs associated with the College’s Education Career Pathway. The Education Career Pathway encompasses programming for education transfer, professional-technical early childhood education, paraeducation, and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Teaching. The Director of Educational Programs is able to establish and sustain a supportive collegial work climate, cooperatively leading the program towards continued excellence, ensuring learning experiences serve a diverse student body that effectively prepares graduates for the workforce. Under the administrative direction of the Dean of Business and Social Science, this position has the responsibility to oversee the laboratory preschool, establish and maintain early learning partnerships, develop curriculum and programming, scheduling, staff development, grant management, enrollment management, budget planning, accreditation compliance, marketing and special projects. The campus is next to Fort Steilacoom Park, 342 acres on Waughop Lake, with walking and horse trails, play areas and fields. It is just one mile from the waters of the Puget Sound with snow-covered mountain ranges visible in both directions. This fall, Pierce College Fort Steilacoom opened its newest building, Glacier, which houses the Veterinary Technician and Dental Hygiene programs featuring state of the art facilities and equipment.Pierce College Puyallup:Pierce College Puyallup is located in the fastest growing area of Pierce County and is the newest community college in Washington State.
