The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a full-time Research Specialist Intermediate to join the Virginia Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) project. The Research Specialist Intermediate will be responsible for coordinating qualitative and quantitative data collection, contributing to data processing and cleaning, helping to develop surveys and forms, running data reports, and data analysis. This is a remote optional position with rare on-site (UVA/Charlottesville and other Virginia localities) work requirements for meetings or presentations. If local to Charlottesville, office space may be provided (if preferred).
The goals of the ECMHC project are to promote the social-emotional development of children birth-5 and prevent suspension and expulsion from early childhood programs across Virginia. To achieve these goals, mental health consultants partner with early childhood programs and teachers to provide collaborative, one-on-one consultation around identified needs at the program/site, classroom, and/or child level. We are expanding access to ECMHC services thanks to support from the Virginia Department of Education. In 2023-2024 (our third pilot year), our team will provide in-person/hybrid services in two large regions of the state and virtual services statewide.
As part of the ECMHC team, you will support daily operations related to data collection, data management/organization, and data reporting.
Role and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project faculty and staff to support the successful delivery of ECMH consultation through excellent data management and reporting, relationship building and management, and communications
Help develop forms and surveys
In coordination with other project staff, track participants’ successful completion of project forms and surveys
Help develop protocols and criteria for data collection and management (e.g., determine interview protocols, develop protocol for post-consultation data collection, manage processes for getting audio files transcribed)

Screen and verify that data are clean and accurate
Run data reports using our CRM tool, HubSpot
Contribute to the planning and writing of reports and performance updates for funders and regulators
Clean data files to prep for analysis
