This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* Conducts diagnostic interviews with clients to assess current functioning levels and obtain medical and social case Histories.
* Administers and interprets psychological tests and makes psychological assessments.
* Diagnoses mental and emotional disorders of clients and formulates plans of treatment.
* Treats psychological disorders by utilizing various psychological and psychotherapeutic techniques.
* Conducts individual, family and group therapy sessions using a variety of cognitive-behavioral techniques.
* Conducts neuropsychological tests to diagnose cognitive, neurological, and emotional problems.
* Provides consultation and direction to clinical staff in the diagnosis and treatment of complex cases.
* Provides training to clinical and departmental staff on various topics including conflict resolution and issues involving depression and suicide.
* Develops programs and workshops to educate the community on mental health issues.
* Provides in-service training to clinical staff.
* Supervises and monitors the activities of graduate level psychology interns and practicum students.
Additional duties may be required for this position.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday
8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
Psychologist will also be required to work at least 1 (one) evening shift a week (11:30 am -7:30 pm.)
Some additional hours may be required in case of public health emergency.
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Doctorate degree in Psychology. Must be licensed to practice Psychology in the State of Illinois.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
* Proficiency with electronic records.
* Previous experience providing psychological testing, counseling, and psychotherapeutic services.
* Previous experience administering and interpreting psychological tests to diagnose mental and emotional disorders and formulate treatment plans.
* Previous work experience conducting individual family and group therapy sessions.
* Previous work experience providing consultation and direction to clinical staff in the diagnosis and treatment of complex cases.
