About the Center
The CMRR is an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary laboratory that provides unique instrumentation,
expertise, and infrastructure to enable the faculty, trainees and staff at U Minnesota and other institutions to carry out basic biomedical,
translational and clinical research utilizing the capabilities of high magnetic fields.
The CMRR receives exceptional institutional
support: U Minnesota built the original 40,000 sq. ft facility and has made substantial investments for all MR systems located in CMRR. U
Minnesota and the State of Minnesota have invested again to expand CMRR to a ~100,000 sq.ft. facility and acquire major new equipment. The
primary goal of this new investment was to facilitate translational clinical research; hence great care was taken for accommodating
patient/subject handling facilities with over a 1000 sq. ft of space for waiting/reception area and conference rooms for subject interview
and staging rooms adjacent to each magnet suite. In addition, 3000 sq. ft. is dedicated to Clinical Research for human subject preparation
and nursing support.
