Position Summary:
The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.
Additional Details:
The Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creativity Office (URSCO) is seeking a Graduate Assistant (GA) for the 2023-2024 academic year. This position will offer the GA an opportunity to develop office management skills, compile data for departmental and grant reporting, develop teaching methodologies, and learn academic assessment techniques. The Graduate Assistant will report to the URSCO’s Business Officer and Director.
-Create and update applications, registration and information in Google Docs
-Social media management
-Organize event registration information
-Organize events booklets
-Office management needs, (e.g. email, document preparation, printing)
-Organize application materials
-Assist with collection and management of student information
-Assist with collection of assessment data/information
-Develop office newsletter
-Conduct “How to Create a Poster Presentation” Workshops
-Create and update flyers and brochures
-Receive and welcome visitors, students, parents, other administrators and faculty to the office and address their inquiries
-Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Part-time employment: 20 hours/week for fall semester, with possible continuation for spring semester. (Stipend = $12,000 per academic year; tuition waivers are not provided by URSCO)
Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for appointments as a graduate assistant, you must:
• Maintain academic good standing at all times (3.0).
• Be enrolled full-time, which is generally a minimum of 9 credits.
• Make satisfactory progress toward your degree as defined by your academic program and the Graduate School.
• Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the U.S.
