Experience with standard and advanced histological techniques, including sample fixation and processing, paraffin and frozen sectioning, and staining is required. Experience with immunohistochemical techniques, including antigen retrieval and antibody optimization, is required. Experience with brightfield and fluorescence microscopy is required. Experience working with musculoskeletal tissues (bone, cartilage, disc, tendon and muscle) is preferred. Experience with in situ hybridization techniques, including probe design, is preferred. Knowledge of computer operations and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) is essential. Experience with image processing and analysis software (Photoshop, ImageJ, Osteomeasure, Nikon Elements or similar) is preferred. Ability to act as a senior advisor, to train others, and to lead groups of students and staff will be necessary. Meticulous attention to detail, and excellent record keeping, documentation, manuscript preparation and communication skills are required.
