About
ClimateSF brings together City agencies that are taking collective action on climate resilience through research, planning, policies, and projects. The program works to align, integrate, and advance City climate resilience efforts through coordinated communications, engagement, funding and financing strategies, policy development, and legislative efforts. The following programs and plans are part of this coordinated effort: Hazards and Climate Resilience Plan, Climate Action Plan, Safety and Resilience and Environmental Justice Elements of the General Plan, Waterfront Resilience Program, Ocean Beach Master Plan and Climate Change Adaptation Project, Heat and Air Quality Resilience Project, and others.
Building a climate-resilient San Francisco requires us to both safeguard against current and future climate hazards as well as eliminate and sequester harmful emissions. Achieving resilience will involve changing the way we plan and build to address hazards such as sea level rise and flooding, extreme heat, and water scarcity while also developing policies and programs to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 through building electrification, renewable energy, zero emission mobility, affordable and healthy housing, and responsible consumption. San Francisco is committed to environmental justice processes and solutions as core to being able to achieve a climate resilient city for generations to come.
