Job Summary

The Department of Alumni and Constituent Engagement is seeking a graduate assistant to serve on our team as a social media coordinator. The social media coordinator will directly manage the department¿s social media channels. The coordinator will be responsible for:

• Drafting posts
• Publishing posts
• Responding to comments and reporting on posts
• Developing and executing campaigns
• Overall channel performance in order to advance the various needs and initiatives of the department and to gain a greater understanding of Alumni and Constituent Engagement innerworkings.

The student will gain experience working in an office environment and enhancing their organizational and collaboration skills. The candidate will have an opportunity to engage with alumni and donors of the university that could expand his or her professional network as well as develop their customer service skill set.

Time management and the ability to work on multiple tasks at once is a necessity.

General Responsibilities:

• Managing the department¿s social media accounts, including live coverage of events (ie Instagram/Facebook posts and stories, video/photo assistance, etc.)
• Analytics management
• Strategy development
• Assisting with the department¿s events, including planning, preparation, promotion, setup, execution, and cleanup
• Assisting in the creation and implementation of the university¿s placemaking strategies
• General day to day support

• Ability to collaborate with other campus entities
• Provide positive representation of UWG and the Office of Alumni and Constituent Engagement.
• Some evening and weekend work may be required.
• Weekly schedules will be adjusted as needed to accommodate this.
• Travel may be asked of this person depending on the event location. However, travel expense reimbursement will occur based on state and university policy.
• Driver¿s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior office experience is highly preferred.
• Experience planning and executing events is a plus.
• Previous social media management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• The Graduate Assistant tuition waiver and stipend is compensation for working approximately 20 hours each week.
• Typical work schedule is up to the student and supervisor.
• As weekend events occur, the schedule will be adjusted.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required.
• Position may require a moderate amount of activity, walking, and occasionally driving a university vehicle or golf cart.
