The Associate Dean of Advising & Running Start is responsible for oversight of key advising services within Highline’s student services division. The departments include, Pathway Advising, Career & Transfer Services and Running Start. These services provide student support with a focus on retention for highly diverse populations. Pathway Advising focuses on supporting students through their first 30 credits at Highline. Career & Transfer Services support students with career exploration and transfer inquiry at each phase of Highline’s 4-Phase advising model, while Running Start supports dually enrolled students who are current high school juniors or seniors taking classes at Highline. The Assoc. Dean is responsible for supporting the implementation and continued refinement of Highine’s four-phase advising model through collaboration with stakeholders within student services, academic affairs and across campus. The Assoc. Dean is responsible for ensuring strong service delivery and consistent day-to-day operations to meet the needs of students.
The Assoc. Dean’s duties include program communication, program assessment, supervision, and professional development of departmental leads. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, leadership, and cultural competency skills along with demonstrated success promoting, managing and supporting a welcome and inclusive environment for a diversity community in an educational setting.
This position reports to the Dean for Advising and Enrollment Services, and is a key member of the Advising and Enrollment Services Leads team. The Associate Dean also backs up the Dean when they are absent. The Assoc. Dean also serves on the Student Services Administrative Cabinet, led by the Vice President of Student Services.
