The School of Arts and Sciences seeks a graduate student teaching assistant to deliver high quality learning experiences and education taking the Introduction to Psychology course in the Fall 2023 semester. The selected candidate will have responsibilities supporting undergraduate students in the Introduction to Psychology classroom and assisting the coordination and training of undergraduate peer teaching assistants. Position duration is for one semester with the possibility of renewal.
• Attends assigned Introduction to Psychology classes (5 hours per week)
• Supports Undergraduate Teaching Assistants in Psychology (UTAPs) during class meetings
• Completes grading projects (5-7 hours per week)
• Opportunity to lead select class meetings
• Supports incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
Required:
• Completed bachelor’s degree in psychology or psychology-related discipline, or with a minor in psychology
• Enrolled in a psychology or psychology-related graduate program
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Individuals intending to pursue a career in higher education are preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Work requires sitting, standing and walking as part of classroom instruction.
• Must be able to use technology, such as typing and manipulating a mouse/mouse pad
