Position Description:
Strategy, Planning, and Operations leads and manages a large and complex portfolio of IT projects and programs while establishing partnerships and stakeholder engagement efforts with students, faculty, staff, and external partners on behalf of the IT organization. The Strategy, Planning, and Operations Office also manages organizational initiatives and efforts, including general administrative functions, financial management and budgeting, vendor management and licensing, billing, internal communications, department human resources, talent management, and culture development.
The IT Governance and Policy team coordinates and drives the administration of IT governance committees, and groups that collectively work to inform, shape, and guide the vision, direction, and priorities for campus technology. They conduct campus-wide stakeholder alignment activities and engage technology subject-matter owners and experts to drive effective decision-making and assist with documentation and publication of IT governance and policy for the university.
The IT Governance Lead will spearhead all aspects of UCLA’s IT governance, including the development and implementation of a comprehensive IT governance framework for the ITS organization. This Lead will provide direction for a clear governance structure, including guidance for strategic and advisory committees of university leaders, senior IT personnel, and representatives from various departments. They will also help guide the university’s IT strategy, policies, and initiatives. The Lead will ensure alignment between governance best practices and ITS strategic initiatives, including assessing how ITS can best support the university’s academic, administrative, and research functions. This role will supervise dedicated specialists who ensure compliance with governance policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines across all IT projects. The Lead will engage with stakeholders across the university community, including faculty, staff, students, and researchers, to inform technology-related decisions and ensure technology initiatives meet their needs. The Lead will oversee the creation, implementation, and continuous monitoring of IT policies and procedures, in addition to working closely with senior leadership and IT stakeholders to align IT governance initiatives with the university’s strategic objectives.
The IT Governance Lead will positively impact UCLA’s operations and culture by enabling IT projects and programs in service of the university’s academic mission. This team member will advance the University’s mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA’s vision while modeling UCLA’s culture and values.
Special Instructions:
This position is eligible for remote/hybrid work arrangements with limited need to come to campus/office.
The anticipated pay range for this position is $134,661 – $176,693; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
