Job Summary
The newly established Sensory-Perception Laboratory at the
University of Utah is seeking a Lab Manager starting in January 2024. The Lab Manager will help in the development and administration of a
research program focused on understanding cortical mechanisms of visual processing and perception and how remodeling occurs to compensate
for damage or disruption due to diseases of the eye and brain. This is achieved through behavioral, electrophysiological, and anatomical
interrogations of the visual system in trained animals and disease models. The role of the Lab Manager is to support the day to day
operations of the lab, interface with the university administration to achieve the smooth and efficient investigation of the research goals
of the lab, and foster a collaborative and collegial environment for trainees and staff.
Responsibilities
The Lab Manager
will be responsible for supporting the daily laboratory functions by assisting research staff:

Lab Manager will need to coordinate schedules, monitor resource use and anticipate shortfalls, and help research personnel complete their
duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelors degree in a related area of assignment or
equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 4 – 6 years of progressively more
responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned departments area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw
conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to
effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training
within one year of employment may be required.
Masters degree in a related area may be preferred.
