Position Description:
The Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA was established as an Organized Research Unit (ORU) with the mission to develop and strengthen African American Studies at UCLA. The Center supports research that (1) expands the knowledge of the history, lifestyles, and sociocultural systems of people of African descent and (2) investigates problems that have bearing on the psychological, social, and economic well-being of persons of African descent. Research sponsored and conducted by the Bunche Center is multidisciplinary in scope and spans the humanities, social sciences, fine arts, and several professional schools.
The Director of Research and Programs will be responsible for overseeing the day to day research activities for the Bunche Center. Responsibilities include strategic planning, developing and supporting research and training programs, overseeing data collection, developing budgets, serving as project manager, and securing external funding for the research programs. In addition, this position will oversee the human subject approval process, will supervise staff and student employees, and will perform other research and administrative related tasks as assigned.
Special Instructions:
The budgeted hiring/target salary range for this position is between the posted minimum and $11,250/month, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience. Salary at the top of this range will only be made to a candidate with significant prior experience.
