A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant’s education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.
The Assistant Scientist provides technical support by performing scientific experiments within a research lab. Independently handles experiments or small research projects requiring advanced knowledge and experience in a specific scientific area or discipline using cellular or microbiology methods. Maintains records of data, and may be involved in training graduate and medical students in research methods and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Experience using standard laboratory methods and organizational skills in the work environment
*Working knowledge of applicable computer software and applicable professional principles
*Ability to take direction and work under supervision
*Good written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
*Master’s Degree
*Animal handling experience
This is a grant funded position.
