About the Department:
NC State Extension transforms science into everyday solutions for North Carolinians through programs and partnerships focused on agriculture and food, health and nutrition, and 4-H youth development. It is the largest outreach arm of NC State University and the second-largest extension organization in the nationwide land-grant university system.
Extension Information Technology provides technology leadership for NC State Extension. We develop applications to serve the programmatic needs of NC State Extension and funding partners, maintain and host public and internal websites and applications, manage county extension center computer hardware and networks, provide IT and video education to our employees, and collaborate with NC State, NC A&T State, and national partners to provide technology solutions.
The NC State Extension’s web infrastructure (ces.ncsu.edu domain) serves as a vital content delivery mechanism to provide freely available science-based educational content to the public. Our web properties and applications deliver approximately 30 million page views per year.
EIT currently has 35 applications and 240 county and commodity websites, with development ongoing for more. For a small development team, we are very productive.
Essential Job Duties:
The IT Analyst/Programmer III position will be the primary manager of the NC State Extension Content Management System (CMS). The CMS includes over 200 websites and integrates with Extension’s CRM, event management application, and publication database. This position is responsible for front-end development for all Extension applications.
