St. Bonaventure University invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Music (non-tenure track), with a specialization in Choral and Voice. The position begins August 2024. St. Bonaventure University is a 4-year liberal arts institution offering a BA degree in Music within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Both majors and non-majors participate equally in the music program.
The successful candidate will direct two choral ensembles each semester and maintain a vibrant voice studio of all voice types. Classroom teaching may also be assigned based on the needs of the department. The candidate will also maintain an active professional performance/conducting schedule and participate in University duties such as advising, recruitment, and committee work.
Responsibilities
* Direct university-wide Concert Choir
* Direct select Chamber Singers
* Teach applied voice
* Teach other music courses on occasion as required by the department
* Maintain professional performance/conducting activity
* Engage in recruitment, auditioning, advising, as well as university committee work and service
* Collaborate with other arts faculty
Required Qualifications
* Doctorate in Music (preferred) or Master of Music with significant professional experience
* Prior choral and vocal teaching experience at the college level
* Ability to teach non-traditional types of choral and vocal styles, possibly to include show choir, jazz, etc.
* Demonstrated commitment to DEI in teaching and professional activities
* A commitment to undergraduate teaching within a liberal arts environment
