The Scientist Lab Medicine I, may be responsible for the performance of activities for new assay development, supportive of research and development at the technical level, and/or for clinical workflow development and data analysis and interpretation. This position supports clinical research and assists in the training of technical staff on new assays. It also supports teaching and training activities for team members, students, colleagues and medical staff.
The Precision Diagnostics Laboratory (PDL) at Children’s Hospital Colorado is a CLIA licensed, CAP accredited laboratory providing high complexity genomic tests. We are searching for a qualified variant curation analyst to support the laboratory’s current clinical tests. The PDL performs clinical genomic testing for germline and acquired genetic diseases and is in the process of expanding its NGS-based offerings. This role will focus on analysis and interpretation of next-generation sequencing data generated from existing and planned oncology panels, whole exome/genome, and gene panel assays. The incumbent will be part of a cross-functional team and will interface with other analysts, providers, molecular geneticists and molecular pathologists for the interpretation of sequence variants. The candidate should have a strong background in genetics and have good attention to detail and be an excellent communicator.

Job functions and requirements:
Department: Precision Diagnostic PDX Lab
Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday – Friday days with potential to support urgent test requests as needed. This position has potential to be fully remote, if applicant is located within CHCO hiring region.
EDUCATION – Master’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or directly related science.
EXPERIENCE – Three (3) years of experience in directly related field.
EQUIVALENCY – Bachelor’s degree in directly related science with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in directly related field.
Candidates with previous variant classification/analysis experience, strongly preferred.

Salary Information
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $89,118.22 to $133,677.33
Hourly Salary Range: $42.85 to $64.27
